This paper focuses on the rise of androgyny in the late 2010s and 2020s, specifically examining the growth and evolution of androgyny in the fashion scene and how it is affecting consumers in day to day life. It looks at the origins of androgyny, its recent rise in popularity, and why this trend is important. The destabilization of gender roles through clothing translates into the destabilization of gender roles in other aspects of society. This paper assesses this social metamorphosis and its influence on a general consumer level.
